Whereas, the Town of Chino Valley is proud to recognize and express sincere appreciation to outgoing Vice Mayor Lon Turner for his service to the Community as Vice Mayor of the Town from December 2017 through today, and as a Councilmember since June, 2011. Lon has brought knowledge and a credibility that is instantly recognized by the citizenry and officials from the area. He has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the residents of the Town of Chino Valley and has faced every challenge without a personal agenda, always considering the best for the community as a whole.

Darlene J. Westcott, the Town of Chino Valley's first Children's Librarian, affectionately known throughout the community as "Miss Darlene," has served in that capacity from 1995 through 2018, and has also served as Assistant Librarian and Library Manager. On behalf of the Chino Valley Town Council and all the citizens of the Town, Darryl Croft, Mayor, does hereby recognize with gratitude for Darlene J. Westcott, "Librarian Extraordinaire," for 23 years of dedicated service to Chino Valley's children and families.

Whereas, at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 marked the end of the ‘War to End All Wars,’ so named because of the great slaughter and destruction; and whereas, on June 1, 1954, Congress declared that Armistice Day should be Veterans Day to honor all who had served in all wars to preserve world peace and on October 8, 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower issued the first Veterans Day Proclamation. The Town of Chino Valley acknowledge November 11, 2018 as “Veterans Day” and urge all citizens of the Town to recognize the valor and sacrifice of our Veterans through ceremonies and prayers.

The State of Arizona tax credit program enables taxpayers to contribute $400 for a single taxpayer and $800 for taxpayers filing a joint tax return, and receive a dollar for dollar tax credit on their Arizona tax bill; and is a way of keeping our tax money in this community and builds a stronger and better community at no cost to the donors.

Whereas, the Prescott Area Artist Studio Tour is a non-profit organization that holds an annual self-guided tour of local artists' studios and art centers; and educates the public about the techniques and materials used by a wide range of artists through demonstrations at each Tour artist's studios; and whereas, the Town of Chino Valley joins the Prescott Area Artist Studio Tour in support of their work and mission by declaring an official celebration of the arts on October 5-7, 2018 known as the Prescott Area Artist Studio Tour.

The Suicide Prevention Coalition of Yavapai County is dedicated to reducing the frequency of suicide attempts and suicide deaths, and the pain for those affected by suicide deaths, through providing resources, education and support.

On August 7, 1782, General George Washington established the Badge of Military Merit to honor enlisted soldiers of the Continental Army and was the first award made available to the common soldier to recognize outstanding valor or merit; and today this honor is known as the Purple Heart. The Purple Heart is an American military decoration awarded in the name of the President of the United States to members of the Armed Forces wounded in combat, or posthumously to the next of kin for those killed or who die of wounds received in action by an instrument of war in the hands of the enemy while serving. We urge all of our citizens to recognize August 7th as Purple Heart Day and August 5th through August 11th as Purple Heart Week in perpetuity to properly honor all those who were killed in action, or became wounded in defense of our country and, remember that "All gave some. Some gave all."
